WATERS IN NETWORK: HYDROgraphic Confluences

On September 24 and 25, the online gathering WATERS IN NETWORK: HYDROgraphic Confluences will bring together artists, researchers, and practitioners from different Latin American countries to reflect on water, climate change, artistic practices, and the relationships between territory, culture, and ways of life. The event will be streamed on ClimaCom magazine’s YouTube channel.

(se)cura humana will take part in the program on September 24, from 2 to 4 pm, in the panel “Poetic Confluences in Contemporary Art”, represented by Flavio Barollo, from Diversitas/University of São Paulo and (se)cura humana, and Wellington Tibério, from the Department of Geography/University of São Paulo and (se)cura humana. Together, they will present “Aquatic Insurgencies: Artivism and Reconnecting with Urban Rivers”, sharing reflections and experiences developed by the collective through its relationship with urban waters, especially rivers and streams made invisible by the city.

The panel will be moderated by Gabriela Leirias, from the Institute of Arts at Unicamp, and Marina Guzzo, from the Federal University of São Paulo. It will also feature Walmeri Ribeiro, from the Federal Fluminense University, with “Confluencing: Cosmot technologies of Water and Cosmopolitics of Imagination”; Alessandro Zamora, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with “La osmopoiesis en el río Magdalena”; and Lisa Blackmore, from entre-ríos, Colombia, with “Relaciones metabólicas: arte, alimento, y comensalidad en el río Bogotá.” 

The participation of (se)cura humana emerges from a trajectory in which water is understood not only as a theme, but as a field of action, relationship, and conflict. “Aquatic Insurgencies” proposes artivism as a way of reconnecting with urban rivers that have been buried, channelized, or transformed into invisible infrastructure, while opening possibilities for other forms of presence, care, and imagination around the waters of the city.

ÁGUAS EM REDE is presented by the Latin American Network for Science Communication and Climate Change and organized by Susana Dias, Emanuely Miranda, Gabriela Leirias, and Teresita Ospina. The full program takes place on September 24 and 25, with the participation of artists and researchers from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico.
